Tupac Yupanqui (Inca Tupac Yupanqui) was the tenth Inca governor. Pachacutec's successor, took coreinado probably between 15 and 20 years. Then, after the death of his father, took over absolute power. He must have just over 30 years.
During his time as Hatun as Inca Auqui then spent most of his time in military campaigns of conquest or pacification and even exploration. They called him "Inca traveler" and is credited with founding the city of Quito.
He took as his principal wife his sister Mama Ocllo (namesake of the wife of the first Inca), which had few children. However, he made strong descent between concubines and secondary wives. He died in Chinchero, perhaps poisoned by his wife Chuqui Ocllo.
According to theories in circulation, their absence from the outside of Cusco is said to have taken her to places such as Mangareva, Rapa Nui, Chacao Pass.
