Atahualpa (Quechua: Ata-wallpa 'gallo'1 2) was the thirteenth Inca ruler, and although he had successors appointed by the Spanish is considered the last Inca emperor. Born in 1500, 3 however, the place of his birth is still uncertain.
When Huascar in Cuzco was crowned as emperor caused him great concern of his brother's sympathy with the army, why was ordered to report to Cuzco. Atahualpa, convinced by his generals that he would be killed if he decided to organize an army and declared northern Inca in the city of Quito. In this way began the famous Civil War inca.4
After thirteen battles (Mocha, Ambato, three in Tomebamba, Cusibamba, Cochahuailla, Blossom, Yanamarca, Angoyacu, Cotabamba Tavaray and two), he defeated Huascar in 1532 in Quipaypan, near Cuzco, after which it was proclaimed Inca Atahualpa or Emperor. Then, in the Spanish met Cajamarca where, according to the traditional version and after an unexpected Spanish attack, had been taken prisoner by Francisco Pizarro. However, the historian Luis Andrade Reimers, has shown that neither was imprisoned or worse, gave ransom for their release, as the numerical ratio of troops to the disadvantage of the Spanish made it impossible for such a situation. Atahualpa Tahuantinsuyo planned reconstruction after the grueling years of civil war, so he tried to establish relations of mutual benefit to the two empires, yours and the Spanish overseas, for which that amount of metal delivered in exchange for technical and administrative benefits for their land.
Also, according to the traditional version in prison would have kept some privileges: he was allowed to continue to administer the empire, learned to read and write, also maintained a friendly relationship with Francisco Pizarro.5 A few months later was accused of treason by the Spanish, the accused of concealing a treasure, conspiracy against the Spanish crown and to kill Huascar. To the rescue was forced to pay two rooms full of silver and gold, has it not complete it would complete the silver gold, besides women, including her cousin who was brought Cuxirimay Ocllo from Cuzco and given as a concubine Francisco Pizarro. Although met with its offer, was executed for all formas.6 chose to be hanged after being baptized as a Christian, the other option was to burn to death if not baptized.
Against this picture, the reconstruction of the facts reveals that Luis Andrade Reimers Atahualpa was possessed of lofty sentiments of freedom for all nations and peoples of Tahuantinsuyo. Ultimately therefore recommended the researcher and the general public who inquire into their own hands in both versions to get a proper trial for a subject that has borne the burden of half a millennium of darkening.
